Sinda Anzovino, E-RYT,CATYMT - Owner & Director of Teacher Training
Sinda Anzovino, E-RYT,CATYMT, has been practicing for over 11 years. She began her training in the style of Ishta. The physical challenge of that style kept her returning to class but she never imagined the mindful affect it would have over her life! She received her 200-hour certification from Yoga Haven in the style of Vinyasa.
Sinda is also a registered member of Yoga Alliance and holds certifications in Prenatal & Postnatal Yoga,Kids Yoga, Yoga for Kids with Special Needs, Reiki 1 and is a Certified Advanced Traditional Thai Yoga Massage Therapist. She is also the Director of Teacher Training at Yoga Journey.
Sinda focuses on keeping a steady stream of heat building through out the class in order to allow muscles to open more easily. She brings much attention to the precision of alignment in each pose as well as adding her love of the flow which makes each class unique. Sinda's love of what she does is apparent in every class. She puts her whole heart into her teaching and creates a light-hearted atmosphere that inspires, motivates and challenges. Her mindful approach to the practice and understanding of yogic philosophy are used in each class to facilitate spiritual growth.
Sinda has continued both her practice and teachings through 2 pregnancies and continues to share herself with her students. She is the proud mom of yogi Jaden and Yogini Sabrina, both of whom have been doing yoga with mommy since birth!

Michael Cote, RYT
Michael Coté, RYT, started practicing yoga when he was 16 and enjoyed an on-again/off-again relationship with it over the years until 1996, when he recommitted to regular home practice and began studying Astanga yoga in New York City with Beryl Bender Birch. He received his 200-Hour Certification under Sinda Anzovino at Yoga Journey in White Plains, NY in 2007. Michael's teaching style uses humor, wit and poetry in a way that paints a picture. He loves discovering the many connections between yoga on the mat and daily life outside of the studio and strives to bring a beginner's mind to every class. Michael invites his students to share his love of yoga.

Kira Morton, RYT, Teen Yoga Teacher
Kira Morton, MS, RYT, has a passion for teaching. She teaches first grade in the South Bronx and has found that incorporating yoga into the classroom is the fuel that keeps her class running. Kira fell in love with yoga while living in Anchorage, AK 8 years ago. She enjoyed the flow, the energy and the sense of balance it brought to her life. She wanted to share the benefits of yoga with others and went on complete a Level-One certification with YogaFit and began teaching right away. When she returned to her roots in NY she completed her 200-hour certification with Yoga Mountain in New City where she practiced yoga as an “art of gentle persistence.” Her Vinyasa approach includes teaching women to overcome addiction, chair yoga for seniors, crossing language boundaries in Brazil, teen yoga, and pioneering a children’s yoga program here in Westchester. Kira encourages her students to tune inward, supporting the fluidity of their practice, and their search for bliss.

Gentle Yoga Teacher, Darby Callahan, Ph.D, RYT
Darby Callahan, R.Y.T. received her PhD from St. John's university in clinical psychology in 1981 and has spent over 30 years as a counselor and psychotherapist. About 15 years ago she came to yoga, casually. However, as she practiced and studied she became aware of the wonderful gifts it provided, not just for the body but for the mind and spirit as well. She began to see yoga as something she wanted to share with others, not just in her psychotherapy practice but in all of her life. With this in mind she completed my 200 hour certification at Kripalu. As part of her mission it has been her privilege to bring yoga to special needs populations, such as those with mental illness and the developmentally disabled, allowing them to experience the healing power of yoga.

Kids Yoga Teacher, Melanie Goio
Melanie has practiced yoga for over 10 years.
She began yoga as a teenager with her father back home in Switzerland.
She now happily calls New York home and notices that the peaceful practice
of yoga offers a balance to living and working here. No matter where she's been,
she has always come back to yoga as her center. She loves the challenge, loves
that it's never the same, loves the calm and the strength she has found in her
practice and feels it is important to bring that to others, especially children.
Melanie continued her study of yoga and eventually received her teaching certification
from Sun Yoga under the direction of Jacqueline Koay.
Melanie loves to teach, loves children and works with the Children's Aid Society in
Harlem as an Educational Coordinator.
She has had varied experience working with elementary-age children as a teacher,
tutor, care taker and mentor for over 10 years.
She is enthusiastic, playful and inspired by children.
Teaching yoga to children has been the perfect fusion of the things she loves most.

Lynn Culbertson,DPT, E-RYT
Lynn Culbertson, DPT, E-RYT, has been an active yoga practitioner for nine years. She began her yoga practice in New York City to help bring more balance to her life. She received her 200 hour certification from Integral Yoga, in Yogaville, VA. Lynn received her advanced yoga certification from Om Yoga in NYC. She is also certified in Pre-natal/Post-natal yoga and is a NASM certified personal trainer. She teaches in the style of Vinyasa and brings a touch of stabilization and core awareness into her classes. Lynn offers a light-hearted class, encourages laughter and hopes to bring joy and balance to her students lives. She is deeply interested in helping heal the body though yoga and body consciousness. She has recently received her Doctorate Degree in Physical Therapy.

Senior Yoga Teacher, Sandra Bernstein, RYT
Sandra Bernstein, a Registered Yoga Teacher with Yoga Alliance, has been practicing yoga for eight years and received her 200 hour instructor certification from Integral Yoga Institute (IYI) in New York City. She is also certified to teach gentle and chair yoga. Sandra has an M.B.A. from Baruch College in New York and is currently the Director of Development for a non-profit human services agency in Westchester. Sandra has a deep commitment to helping older adults stay flexible and strong and to share the experience of yoga with them as it opens their hearts, minds and bodies.

Substitute Yoga Teacher Michelle Matthews
Michelle has been a student of yoga since 1996 and received her 200 hour yoga certification in the style of Vinyasa in November of 2007 under Sinda Anzovino at Yoga Journey in White Plains, NY. She was a student of dance for 20 years studying ballet, tap and modern jazz. She loves many different forms of physical fitness and has been an active runner for 8 years. Initially her interest in yoga stemmed from wanting to bring about more balance and peacefulness to her life. Her exploration of Vinyasa style classes has become the perfect combination of physical challenge and mindfulness practice. Her yoga classes incorporate love, compassion, patience and acceptance. She is interested in helping to heal others on many different levels, and has been practicing meditation for two years, is a Level 2 Reiki practitioner and most recently began studying massage to become a certified massage therapist through the Connecticut Center for Massage Therapy.

Substitute Yoga Teacher, Lauri Nemetz, RYT
Lauri is a 200 hour certified yoga teacher through the Temple of Kriya
Yoga. In addition, she is a practicing academy level dance/movement
therapist and is licensed in New York State under creative arts
therapy. She obtained her Master's degree in this field and has
additional certifications in pre/postnatal movement, therapeutic yoga,
advanced Stott® Pilates mat and reformer and more! She discovered yoga
many years ago and immediately felt "this is home." She truly believes
the best teachers continue to learn, and she actively studies with yoga
masters such as Karin Stephan and David Hollander. Her classes combine
vinyasa with respect to Iyengar, Kriya and other traditions. She is
currently the co-president of the YTA (Yoga Teachers Association). She
enjoys the yoga community in Westchester and is happy to be part of the
Yoga Journey family.

Myriam Sanabria, Certified Yoga Journey Toddler Yoga Teacher
Myriam Sanabria began practicing Yoga since 2006. Her interest in Yoga began because she aimed to find the inner peace within herself. Myriam is a certified elementary school teacher and has been teaching since the year 2000. Myriam’s passion for Yoga inspired her to become a certified Toddler Yoga Teacher through Yoga Journey, and is incorporating Yoga in her own classes to teach the children ways of obtaining serenity with harmony and peace. When teaching, she uses different ways of creating a fun environment so the children can laugh and have love for life and ultimately creating inner balance.

Corey Geremia is a kid at heart, constantly moving and constantly curious.
She discovered yoga seven years ago as a dance major at Skidmore College,
and has been an avid practitioner ever since. Her practice led her to Om
Yoga Center where she completed her Teacher Training Program. Her
love for kids led her to Karma Kids Yoga where she completed her childrens
teacher training. Amazed by yoga's unique and constant opportunity for
mental and physical discovery, Corey believes that anyone can enjoy the
benefits of yoga. In class, Corey uses her playful nature to create a safe
and encouraging environment in which explore, challenge and discover. She is
grateful to all of her teachers who have shared their knowledge and is
continuously inspired by her students.

Elana Frankel, RYT, has been teaching yoga since 2002, after she completed her 200-hour certification course through the Nosara Institute at Omega in Rhinebeck, New York. While the basic structure of her class follows a vinyasa style, the pacing is slow and meticulous, paying close attention to alignment, form and breath. But don’t be fooled: this mindful approach to yoga includes fun and humor as well as a playfulness developed during her own 8 years of practice. Elana is also a certified PreNatal Yoga Instructor through Yoga Works in NYC.

Substitute Yoga Teacher, Joe Somodi, RYT
Joe Somodi began studying yoga in 1997 and has been teaching Yoga since 2007. He is a Certified Yoga Instructor and received his training at Sonic Yoga in New York City under his mentors Jonathan Fields and Lauren Hanna. A graduate of the American Musical and Dramatic Academy, Joe was a professional actor before he transitioned to a career in film editing. He
draws upon these past experiences by weaving his class like the arc of a story, incorporating a theme that he builds on as the class evolves.
Jonathan Fields, co-owner of Sonic Yoga, says Joe "has a strong, commanding, yet caring presence and his teaching evidences his deep commitment to a lifetime of learning and sharing along the way."
Joe strives to teach to the level of his students incorporating aspects of yoga philosophy while always challenging his students to gain greater sensitivity and awareness in each asana. He advises new students to "always stay patient and respect the life long path that yoga will take you on. Let go and the rest will follow." Joe is also a certified Level 2 Reiki practitioner.
